Organisers FAQ
1. Form of Play
Woking is principally a 2 ball course and the normal formula for play is singles in the morning and foursomes in the afternoon. 3 and 4 ball play is possible at certain times but must be pre agreed with the Office.
2. Handicaps
All visitors must be members of Golf Clubs and hold bona fide handicaps of 24 or less for men, and 30 or less for women. Handicap certificates may be required.
3. Clubhouse
The Clubhouse usually opens at 8.00am with coffee available in the Mixed Lounge. Extended opening times may be possible on discussion with the Office.
4. Security
Entry to the Clubhouse is via a punch code entry system and the main gate has an exit code. Your organiser will be advised of the codes on the day of your visit.
5. Timings
Morning starting times will be agreed with your Organiser. The first afternoon starting time will normally be 2.15pm. With respect to other golfers, it is essential that these timings are adhered to please; failure to keep on time, particularly in the afternoon, may mean you losing your slot and having a delayed start.
6. Catering
Normally we will provide coffee and bacon rolls on arrival, a sit down 3 course lunch (4 courses if you include our excellent cheese plate!) followed by tea and sandwiches after your golf.
For lunch numbers of 15 or less, or if your day includes supper (where 20 is the minimum number we require), please speak to the Office as we normally make some changes to the menu offered.

7. Slow Play
Nobody likes to be held up through slow play on the course. Please always be ready to play if it is your turn and work under the maxim of “keeping up with the game in front (not just ahead of the game behind)”. Please wave through any game if you hold them up or lose a ball. Woking is committed to maintaining a fast pace of play and encourages all players to adhere to the suggestions within the R&A’s Ready Golf recommendations.
8. Trolleys and Buggies
Trolleys and golf buggies can be reserved through our Professional, Carl Bianco, by phoning 01483 769582. Buggies are generally only available for medical reasons and a disclaimer must be signed before use. Please speak to Carl in the shop for more information.
Please remind all golfers not to take buggies through the (ecologically fragile) heather.
9. Dogs
We allow visitors to bring well-behaved dogs on the course by prior arrangement.
10. Public Footpaths
Please ensure all golfers are aware of people using the public footpaths, as they have right of way at all times.
11. Advertising
Overt advertising either in or around the Clubhouse, or on the course, is not permitted.
12. Mobile Telephones
Mobile phones may only be used in the car park or (in extremis) next to the public telephone sign near the men’s changing room.
13. Liaison with the Office
Final numbers: Please confirm final numbers one week prior to arrival. We will at that point fix the cost of your booking for golf and catering based on the agreed numbers.
On the day: Please make yourself known to the Duty Manager at the Bar who will confirm details and timings.
14. Speed Restrictions
The roads around the Club are often used by pedestrians with young children and dogs – please keep your speed to a maximum of 20mph.
We look forward to welcoming you to Woking Golf Club.
